IT'S ALL ABOUT FOOD!

I have overdue pics on food and here goes......

Bentos I prepared for Tom:

1. Sweet Potato Rice with CP Chicken and Steam egg. We bought the famous banana cakes from JB. Tom liked the rice but I just don't fancy sweet potatoes ;)

2. Instant Mee Goreng, Cp Chicken and Club Sandwiches from KG. I packed some rambutans for his desserts.

3. Fried Seafood Rice with CP Chicken, Steam egg and sandwiches.

4. Plain Rice, Crabstick Steam Eggs, CP Chicken and Sotong Balls. Some sandwiches as well. Tom needs lots of Carbs for energy!

These are our dinners.....

1. Steam Seafood Tofu and Sweet & Sour Pork. Tom prefer his pork less crispy and we liked the tofu dish...yummy!

2. Made my first Ramly Burger using their patties bought from JB. It was really good and we packed some for our short getaway during the National Day weekend. Will update on that soon!

3. Prepared these Prata Wraps with Tuna and had the plain ones with Yeo's Canned Curry. Tom preferred home-cooked curry!

4. This is what I usually cooked whenever there's a promotion for Unagi. We loved the NTUC Meat Balls...yums!

We fell in love with this Malay stall in a coffee shop that sold really shiok Nasi Padang in JB and from then, we became their regular customers! Cheap and good..... actually more than good! The half boiled egg was very special too... it was Kampong Chicken Egg.... yummilious!

Recently, we found a new place to have seafood cos we missed eating good ones in JB. Tebrau Garden's had lost it touch totally! Here's New Lucky Restaurant.....tata..... delicious seafood without burning a hole in our pockets! Aircon and clean somemore....love it!

Our 1st visit: Gil was with us and we had Cereal Sotong, Sweet & Sour Pork, Sambal Kang Kong and Seafood Hor Fun. We liked everything except the Kang Kong cos it was a tad too dry for our liking!

Our 2nd visit: We ordered Hor Fun without eggs for our fussy boy who couldn't tolerate seeing the egg white on his Hor Fun... OCB! We had the Cereal Sotong again and tried their Signature Fried Tofu.... not too bad but I still prefers my Tofu with more gravy! Our 3rd visit was to celebrate my birthday which will be up on the next post.... we spent more than a hundred on that day...keke....

Aunty Pauline (Gil's mom) invited us to her place for dinner. As usual, she never fails to amaze me with her superb culinary skills... btw, she's a vegetarian and owned a famous Vegetarian food stall in Amoy Street Hawker Centre.You might have seen her on Channel U Variety show.... it was thumbs up for the judges!

And oh I scalded my fingers while trying to help her bring the hot boiling soup to the table.... sigh... clumsy me .... thks to Colgate, my fingers were saved!

This is my current fave yogurt drink, Shine by Dutch Lady! And we only buy them from JB....lol..... cos it's a lot cheaper to get it there!

Aunty Pauline gave us a huge or should I say a ginormous mango! It's bigger than my face la..... see how much strength Jo had to use...haha! And we got new sandals and flip flops from City Sq too!

OUTING & DINNERS

I am back with lots of overdue pics. I have been meeting up friends during the month of July and August..... plus one more coming up next Wednesday with my Sec Sch classmates. Can't wait to meet the ladies whom I know for 19 years.... luv them!

Ok, first up was my hub's ex-HMC mates reunion BBQ at Sembawang Park. Jo made some new friends and so had I. We even went for short trip together (will blog abt that on my next post)! Besides the great company, I must say the best part about this reunion was the FOOD! Woo... we had mushroom kebabs, pork chops, wings, garlic prawns.... etc and they were all home-made... super impressed! For full set of pics, see Jo's blog!

This is Sembawang Park and that very handsome boy is Marcus...so "shuai" that I can't resist taking a pic with him...lol!

The food looks good huh? The hubs were very sweet that day cos they were slogging over the hot grill and we the wives just sat around the table and gorged ourselves mad...haha!

We had a Crab Feast on Les' first "release"...keke... this boy had lost 11 kg in 2 weeks.... someone pls send me to the army!

As you can tell from these pics below, we're at Kenny Rogers except that this is in Jusco, JB. The service and food are equally bad.... ask Gil, she will tell you her story...lol! And we're definitely not going back!

Met up with Huiling, Cutie Faith and Mimi. I gave Huiling a belated birthday treat and also to catch up with her. These ladies are friends to keep forever! We had dinner at Cafe Cartel, Bishan..... nice but I kind of missed their bread counter!

My aunt invited us for dinner at her place and I loved everything that she prepared! I even had a free lesson on making Muah Chee.... yummy!

Had Porridge Buffet at Windsor with my parents and sis.I think my dad liked it cos he had quite a lot of food that day. I enjoyed our simple and relaxing dinner with them.

TOM'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AND MORE

Celebrated my DH's birthday last week with our friends. We had dinner with Daph, Gerald & Gil at Vines. Missed that place and as usual, I ordered my fave Grill Chicken & Tiger Prawns... yummy! Our young friends were really sweet to give Tom a surprise on his actual birthday. See pics below for more!

We were invited to our CGL's place for a meeting 2 Fridays ago. New stuff are coming up and Tom was asked to co-lead the cell.... hmmm.... we're a little hesitant cos it's only been a year since we joined CEFC! Anyway, we're gonna missed "Barney & the Gang" so much..... sob, sob!

Brought my Prince to the zoo last Saturday before our membership card expired. It's been some time since we visited the zoo and Jo couldn't stop talking about it! See his blog for the full set of pics.

See these 2 pairs of flip flops? I broke my sandals at the entrance and had to get some footwear. These were selling at 2 for $10 and strangely 1 for $12.90! So of course I bought 2! Quite cute ya!

BIRTHDAYS, ENLISTMENT & LOTS OF FEASTING!

We had Japanese Buffet at Shogun 2 weeks ago. that was our 3rd time there and this time we tried out new stuff. Tom, my sharp eye hb always managed to find treasures among mountains of food choices. The last time, he ordered the Baby Crabs which Gil & I thought were so cute and we didn't even notice the pic on the counter! This time, he found a very yummy Deep Fried Cuttle fish dish. We had 3 portions of that...hee!

The Deep fried patch of stuff was the Deep Fried Cuttle fish that I mentioned above...looks gd huh?
The Kimchi Rice was surprisingly very tasty too! But the portion was too big for me to finish! Of course, I had my fave Okonomiyaki again...luv it!

We celebrated my sis' birthday at Furama Hotel and had Indonesian Buffet. It was our first time trying their food and I thought it was not bad. There was a special promotion for UOB card holders and and it was 1 for 1! I wouldn't pay the full price of $45+++ for this meal.... just not worth it! We took lots of pics and somehow, it felt more like a wedding than a birthday celebration!

Last Tuesday, we brought my FIL & MIL to Kinsahi Japanese Restaurant, JB to celebrate my MIL's birthday (don't know why there are so many July babies around including my hub!). Think it's my MIL's frist time trying Jap food. Oh, I got to mention this, My FIL put his arm around my MIL that day...major historical event la! It was Tom's first time seeing them that close and my Fil had not gone near my MIL for more then 20 years! My MIL was shocked and started to say something in Hokkien about "it will rain today" and don't know what else...basically she was too shocked...lol...thanks to me who suggested that! Brought them to Giant to grab some groceries and went home with our tummies filled with kaya balls.... shiok!

Last Wednesday, we invited Les, Von, Gil & Kei to our place for Steamboat. This was mostly for Les' enlistment and partly for my DH's birthday. Wanted to send Les off with a meal before he "suffer" big time in the commando camp!

FATHER'S DAY CELEBRATIONS

Yup, this post is all about Father's Day...haha... I know it's a bit late but it's better late than never! We had 4 celebrations altogether... really eat till I drop and grow fat!

Celebration 1 - Sunday, 21/6/09

We drove to JB for Father's Day lunch at Kim Gary HK Cafe, City Sq cos there was a 50% discount for fathers. The lunch was alright and super cheap! We went shopping and had dinner at Station One. It was our first time there. We thought the food was quite good especially their signature Chicken Chop.... yummy! Well... just see pics below!

Celebration 2 - Monday, 22/6/09

Dear hubby decided to have dinner at Dian Xiao Er. We always enjoyed the food there especially the Herbal Duck! On top of that, we got a 15% discount for dinning before 6 pm.... wow... a bonus! We ordered a Set Dinner for 2 and every dishes was good.

Celebration 3 - Tuesday, 23/6/09

We brought my FIL and MIL to Greenland Vegetarian Restaurant at Upper Serangoon for a Father's Day treat. The food was decent too! Most importantly, Jo get to spend some time with his grandparents.

Celebration 4 - Saturday, 27/6/09

The last celebration was with my Papa! We had dinner at Keng Eng Kee Seafood Restaurant. I've been wanting to try their food for a long time cos there were many good reviews about this place. IMO, the food was excellent.... all of us left the place very satisfied! I would highly recommend this place to those who enjoyed "Zi Char" type of food. And must, must,, must, must, must order the Sambal Kang Kong with Cuttlefish.... it's the best I've ever tasted in Singapore! So good you can even eat it on it's on! I will definitely be back. Btw, we had a 30% discount cos my aunty is the owner's Yoga instructress. The dinner cost us less than $200 for 10 people......... cheap! Ok, I shall let the pics do the talking now....

I have been updating this blog everyday cos of the many backdated pics. So here's more backdated stuff.

We had a Worship Team Family Day a couple of weeks ago at East Coast. This was our first time with the team since we joined the church. As you tell from the pics, I hadn't learn to cycle yet..... sigh... poor Tom had to paddle real hard that day...haha! Jo had a great time riding with his Godma.

Then it was off to another chalet 2 days later. Von organised a surprise enlistment party for her Baby and we're invited. We had a good time catching up with some of our friends. See pics below.

We found another yummy place for lunch in JB. This coffee Shop sells Nasi Padang in the afternoon as well as the usual brekkie stuff. It is located opposite our fave bakery. The dishes were fantastic...no wonder the coffee shop was packed! Pics were taken half way thru' our lunch cos I was so attracted to the food that I had forgotten about taking picd...yes...it's really that good!

I missed luncheon meat with fried rice and decided to cook some for our dinner as well as Tom's Bento the next day. Yes.... and more Muar's Otah from Aunty Pauline!

Content of Tom's Bento: Fried Rice, Egg, jam, sugar & butter sandwiches. And some crabsticks and sausages.

Cooked Ginger Chicken again and tried frying Cincalok Omelet. Think I will use yellow onion rather than the red ones next time cos I didn't like the strong taste.

Did you notice that most of the bentos included rice? That's because my DH wanted something filling for lunch. I had to come up with all sorts of rice dishes so that he wouldn't get bored from eating the same thing over and over and over again.

Content of this Bento: Chinese Sausage Rice, Steamed eggs with Shrimps and Crabsticks, Tuna sandwiches and Chocolate Chips Kueh Bahulu from JB. Tom loved the rice and egg!

Ok that's all and the next post will be on Father's Day...yes, I know.... Father's Day was last month...haha!

BACKDATED PICS OF FOOD AND FAMILY OUTINGS

Gil & I bought some French Rose Buds and Osmanthus from Chong Pang to brew some beauty tea for ourselves...hee... actually, we are more attracted to the fragrance than anything else!

During the June Hols, we brought Tom's Eldest sis and her kids to JB for some shopping and food. We brought them to Hiap Joo Confectionery to get some yummy buns. They loved it! After which, it's shopping at City Sq. Since we're there, we had dinner at Kim Gary HK Cafe. Thankfully, they enjoyed the food there and had a "fruitful" time too!

The food we had at Kim Gary.... I loved my Hot Stone Spicy Rice with Pork Chop...yums!

We had a dinner at Bei Sheng several weeks ago cos we kind of missed their food. We had the usual Fried fish and cuttlefish. There was also a plate of Kai Lan with Beef which was I forgotten to take a pic of! Jo wanted Kway Teoh and he only ate less than 1/8 of it....grr... Tom & I had to finished up the "not so nice" KT!

Ok, now on the home-cooked food...hee..... I fried a huge pot of Sambal Fried Rice and add on a Muar Otah (given by Aunty Pauline) for side dish. It didn't taste too bad except that I find the sweetness of cabbage and onions just didn't quite fit into my idea of SFR. Anyway, Tom liked it and I packed some or his Bento the next day. I am such a good wife.....haha!

I am finally blogging again after a long break. Ok, will start with some very backdated pics.

This is Jessie, my CGL's wife. She is one cool and funny lady...luv her! We gave her a surprise mini birthday celebration after service. Don't you think her kids are lovely?

Gil's block has a new sign. We thought it was cute and I made her posed with it...haha!

I prepared these dinners and both are chicken dishes. Tom & I enjoyed the ginger chicken most. And thank you Aunty Pauline for the vegetarian crispy stuff again!
